Job description

Prima Games, the destination for video game guides and news, is seeking talented and ambitious freelance writers. Competitive applicants will have in-depth knowledge about a wide variety of the most popular single-player and live service video games and track current news and topics within the gaming industry.

We require a minimum of 25 posts per month, but you are able to write more if desired. Post types include gameplay guides for new releases and live service games, SEO/Top 10 lists, traffic-driving features, and breaking news on entertainment topics and select titles, companies, and gaming brands.

Applicants should have excellent English writing skills and be self-starters who can complete assigned news, guides, and features in a timely matter. Although not required, familiarity with using Google Trends to source coverage ideas is a plus. Past experience writing SEO content is highly desirable.

We’re a global, digital newsroom, and all work is remote. Rates are $10 for news articles and quick question/answer guides, $20 for gameplay guides and shorter features, and $30 to $50 for reviews, longer guides, and features. There is no cap on how much you can write per month as long as your pitches are approved. Hired writers will also have ample pre-approved story ideas to choose from.

To be considered:
Submit a resume, a short cover letter detailing your writing experience and your interest in the gaming industry, and at least two relevant writing clips. Note: A cover letter and clips are required to be considered.

Working for Prima Games was a dream come true. I get to do what I love which is play video games and write about it. Now I know that sounds easy but there is a lot of work that goes into it. You have to really dig deep in the game that you have to write about and learn every nuisance about the game. From brewing coffee and lunch runs. This was the best job I ever had! The hardest part is when you get writers block and have to take a break unfortunately to let your mind rest. The best part of the job was playing the games and creative writing that went into it. A typical day I'd wake up get some coffee and breakfast. Head into the office sit down and start playing the game and pick something to write about that hadn't been written yet. Co-Workers were awesome. I got to work with my best friend and fellow competitive gamers on this job and of course the awesome Prima Games Staff. I learned that you can do what you love and making a living from it.
