Overall, a tremendous, fast growing company that offers an opportunity for sales professionals to develop their skills towards a fast track of growth potential.

Cons:

"Great company with great mission"

The company itself has a great purpose and is doing wonderful things in many parts of the country. Because the company is still growing, there are some growing pains and the pay could be better (especially for those living in expensive states) they are reaching students who need it most.

"Run fast"

Cheap overlords don't want to pay those of us who teach . We get a mere pittance. I'm sure they have a huge corporate umbrella. Pay never increases from year to year but standard of living does. I guess you think kids aren't worth it?? Message received.

"Not worth the time of an experienced teacher"
Current EmployeeInstructor
As a teacher who taught virtual/hybrid the previous school year, the idea of working as a remote teacher with flexible hours seemed appealing. I was moving to a new state during the beginning of the current school year and wanted a role that would help me transition back into teaching while getting adjusted to my new setting and living conditions. My experience with Elevate was far from great. The platform itself is inferior to instruction that could be provided through Microsoft teams or other similar applications. With Elevate you have a class mic and a camera that showcases a part of the class since you cannot get the entire class within the frame. On the platform you cannot see the individual students, and they cannot see you on their personal device. They can only see you projected on the screen in the front of the class. You also cannot hear the most of the students since they will be seated away from the location of the class mic. So in order to hear the students you will have to unmute them, resulting in an echo if the class does not have headsets or are not lowering the speakers on their personal device. My biggest issue with this platform is the lack of creativity on the part of the educator. Daily lessons are already mapped out for you. So as an educator you are left only with facilitating poorly made lessons with not much room for individual creative expression. This program leans heavily on teacher centered instruction with an emphasis on video viewing and powerpoint presentations. As an educator, I prefer to be able to share my own screen and create my own content. With an emphasis on the teacher providing the instruction. But with Elevate you cannot share your screen. Students signed into the portal can only access content on the portal. The portal is also rife with errors and technical issues. Students cannot view or type on the worksheets loaded on the platform, so at times you have to load the information on another platform for them to access it. There are also issues with the servers and times were either you or your class cannot sign in to access instruction. This format is some of the worst representation of what online/virtual instruction should look like. Second, there is a lack of communication between the representatives of the program and the school. So the person who is supporting you in the classroom may not be briefed on Elevate and how to compliment you during instruction. Also, if classroom management is an issue in a classroom then it will interfere with your instructional time and how you progress through units. Classroom coaches are essentially a long-term substitute in the classroom and may not be the advertised paraprofessional that is trained by Elevate. If you have pride as an educator based on what you create and the relationships you build with students, then this program is not for you. Working remotely may seem great on paper, but if you want to provide instruction that is effective then you best stay clear from this since students would be better off with an in-person teacher or an alternative type of instruction that best meet the needs of the students. I just do not believe this format can provide effective remote instruction that can help serve the schools that mainly utilize this program. Learning loss and vacancies should be addressed with programs providing best in class opportunities for students and educators to overcome disparities in education. Hopefully my review helps this program improve, because it serves a purpose and provides schools that are understaffed and have positions unfilled with an online instructor.
