Job description
The Health Coach Consultant position requires a nurse with compact RN licensure.

This is a fully remote position and the candidate must live in either PST or MST time zones (not seeking any candidates based in CST/EST time zone) in a compact RN state.

Normal Working Hours: Employee will work 3 days per week 8:30am-5:00pm in their time zone (PST or MST) and will cover 2 days per week until 9:00pm EST. Schedule will vary per the needs of the team.

There are no weekends or holidays required.

There is no travel required.

The Health Coach Consultant utilizes a collaborative process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation, to engage, educate, and promote and influence member's decisions related to achieving and maintaining optimal health status.

The Health Coach Consultant:
  • Assess members using clinical tools and information/data review, conducts comprehensive evaluation of member's needs and benefit plan eligibility for available integrated internal and external programs/services.
  • Utilizes assessment techniques to determine member's level of health literacy, technology capabilities, and/or readiness to change.
  • Enhancement of Medical Appropriateness & Quality of Care.
  • Application and/or interpretation of applicable criteria and guidelines, health/wellness management plans, policies, procedures, regulatory standards while assessing benefits and/or member's needs to enable appropriate utilization of services and/or administration and integration with available internal/external programs.
  • Using holistic approach consults with supervisors, Medical Directors and/or others to overcome barriers to meeting goals and objectives.
  • Identifies and escalates quality of care issues through established channels.
  • Utilizes influencing/motivational interviewing skills to ensure maximum member engagement and promote lifestyle/behavior changes to achieve optimum level of health.
  • Provides coaching, information, and support to empower the member to make ongoing independent medical and/or healthy lifestyle choices.
  • Interprets and utilizes clinical guidelines/criteria to positively impact members health
Provides up-to-date healthcare information to help facilitate the member’s understanding of his/her health status.
  • Helps member actively and knowledgably participate with their provider in healthcare decision-making.
  • Monitoring, Evaluation and Documentation of Care Develops and monitors established plans of care, in collaboration with the member and/or attending physician, to meet the member's goals.
  • Utilizes internal policy and procedure in compliance with regulatory and accreditation guidelines.

Pay Range
The typical pay range for this role is:
Minimum: 55,300
Maximum: 118,900

Please keep in mind that this range represents the pay range for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual salary offer will take into account a wide range of factors, including location.

Required Qualifications
  • 3+ years of clinical experience as an RN in acute care setting required.
  • Must have an active and unrestricted RN licensure in the state that you reside; Must reside in a compact state.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous coaching experience preferred.
  • Managed care experience preferred.
  • Experience in multiple areas of nursing in an acute setting preferred.
  • Med/Surg and ER experience preferred.

Education
  • Associate degree Nursing required; BSN preferred.

"Stressful metrics; okay under the right District Manager"

People are always overworked and pharmacies are always understaffed. They almost staffed the pharmacies appropriately during the first wave of COVID vaccines, but they stopped caring during the boosters as COVID became more normalized. Annual raises are terrible. Vacation time/PTO is pathetic and you're lucky if you don't have to work during every holiday. I believe I started with 3 days of PTO and the expectation that I would work during every holiday when I was scheduled. I don't trust the upper management to make any reasonable decision for patient or employee safety. Luckily, the job can be bearable under the right district management. I was lucky to have 3 fantastic district managers that understood how to keep lower-level employees happy and supported. To summarize the company culture briefly: they need to stop paying the upper level executives exorbitant amounts of money, bragging about record-breaking profits in a healthcare enviroment, and wasting money on celebrity appearances at corporate events. They need to start distributing that money to appropriately staff their pharmacies for improved patient safety and employee well-being.

Money is great, people are very nice. Hard labor job, lot of 12-15 hour days. The hardest part of the job is being on the bottom of the seniority. Lot of bouncing back and fourth from night runs and day runs. Very hard to get some sleep. Money is amazing, but you will work for that money.

The actual company, role, and day-to-day work were mostly fine. However, the department I was involved in did not care about the well-being of their personnel. Company low balled offers, which is quite surprising given the efforts taken to hire-on new security analysts. Turn-over is subsequently very high for the Security Operations Center.
