Company Description
More than a decade ago, Charter for Excellence (CFE) Management Group was created as part of the start-up process for the first Legacy Traditional School, which opened in Maricopa. Over time, what was once a name on the Maricopa campus charter school application, has evolved into a company that has helped to build, manage and expand Legacy schools with academic and curriculum support, marketing, food services, facilities maintenance, IT support, and much more. As Legacy Traditional Schools has grown to 16 campuses for the 2018-2019 school year, so too has CFE grown. Today, nearly 120 employees, dedicated to supporting Legacy Traditional Schools, now work for the organization. Recently, the leadership team of CFE and the founders felt, given the current and future growth of the organization, the time was right to retire the name CFE Management Group, and adopt a new name: Vertex Education. Vertex was selected because it refers to the summit of a mountain, and it reflects our continued commitment to helping schools and students reach a higher level of academic excellence. As of June 11, 2018, the name CFE Management Group will be replaced by Vertex Education. Vertex Education will continue to operate in its current capacity, as a service provider to Legacy Traditional Schools. We are so excited to take this giant step forward in our growth as a company, and in the continued pursuit of our core purpose, to change lives through education.

"Energizing organization, great people, and meaningful work"
Current EmployeeSenior Director
Every day at work I feel challenged and motivated. At Vertex, there is always a thematic goal that is the most important thing--and everyone knows the importance of working collaboratively to achieve it. People are willing to step out of their roles to help each other. The work is meaningful--we are changing lives through education! Everything we do is to ensure that students learn and that students, families, teachers, and staff feel supported. I'm grateful to have the opportunity to be creative, identify opportunities for improvement, and share my passion.
Pros:
Cons:

"Great culture, fairly flexible. Transparent"
Current EmployeeOperations Associate
The management team holds all-staff meetings every other week (at a minimum) which really helps with transparency and communication. Benefits are strong (especially the 401k). The health insurance is good and vision is free. The hardest part is that we have been understaffed for quite some time. It's super fun seeing the kiddos playing at the preschool next door and know we are improving kids' lives.

Cons:

"Best place to work!"
Former EmployeeAcademics
You word hard, it is fulfilling, you can make a difference, work is rewarding, we laugh and have fun, remote work! The management team is involved, they care about you as a person! Flexible time off!
Pros:

"Insufficient Training"
Former EmployeeRegistrar
There is poor communication between Vertex and Legacy. A great training program is promoted during the on boarding process but no real training is given. Employees are disregarded and left to fend for themselves. Vertex supervisors are very passive aggressive and don't make time for you.
