Outside Sales- Market Area Manager | Dealer Relationships

About this Position:

  • This position will work remotely in an assigned geographic territory.

Credit Acceptance offers our team members in the sales department:

  • Uncapped earning potential with a base salary and uncapped monthly performance-based commission, total compensation depends on the impact you make in your market

We are looking for driven, consultative, and influential sales professionals to continue to lead our market growth. Our ideal candidate exhibits:

  • Consultative sales experience through a detailed needs analysis, direct communication and a solutions-based mindset

From B2B to finance, our Market Area Managers come from a variety of backgrounds and industries. While not limited to these titles, some of our most successful Market Area Managers come from the following backgrounds:

  • Account Managers
  • Account Executives
  • District Sales & Sales Managers
  • Field Sales & Territory Managers
  • Area Managers
  • Business Development
  • Business Managers
  • Finance & Insurance (F&I) Managers


As a sales representative for Credit Acceptance, you will be provided with continuous training to help you achieve success within your assigned territory. Responsibilities in your area will include:

  • Prospecting automotive dealerships to enhance business development outcomes
  • Account management & client services to build a strategic and consultative relationship with customers
  • Running a territory with entrepreneurial drive and dedication similar to a small business owner

Qualifications :

  • Minimum travel of 80% in the market
  • Proven track record of success in a competitive sales environment
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
  • A valid driver’s license, insurance and registration
  • Occasional overnight travel, less than 10%

Preferred :

  • Knowledge or experience in auto finance or retail operations of automobile dealerships
  • Existing relationships with dealers in the defined territory

Targeted Compensation: $100,000 Base Salary + Uncapped Commission

They paint pretty picture during training but once you hit the floor that’s where reality strikes. They do have good PTO and benefits but it’s definitely not worth the abuse you go through on a daily basis. They did recently increase , however it’s not enough to compensate for what you have to tolerate. The majority of the supervisors don’t listen to you and are completely disengaged from the human element of this job. I believe a lot of employees have become desensitized to what empathy actually is and could careless about a employee. Perhaps if you actually used the listening culture that you do proudly boast, you would understand why you have such high turnover.

Company is phenomenal. They have built a great foundation but where they fall short is their management hierarchy and the processes that they are urged to reinforce. The amount of disrespect I receive from my DOS on a weekly basis is mind blowing. It is also amazing how tone deaf management can be with what is going on in your market. At the end of the day they expect you to promote, sell, and train on their product while this is reasonable they also expect numbers to always be going up and if they drop down well it has nothing to do with the market and they will put you on a "performance Improvement Plan". Or just there way of documenting that they can let you go whenever they want for the next pawn in line.
