From a Compass tutor: "Whether I’m working with an ice skater, budding engineer, or musician, I find that their passions inform the way they learn, as well as the way I tutor.” -Amira D., Northwestern University

From a Compass family: "Determining which test (ACT vs. SAT) to prepare for was streamlined based on diagnostic testing and analysis by Compass. Our tutors then identified how my teens best learn and taught them in an efficient, effective manner with clearly set expectations. Scheduling the one-on-one sessions was easy and the tutors worked around our calendar. Both kids increased their ACT scores by 8-10 points. I have many friends who have used other companies and private tutors, and from what they tell me, none of them even remotely compares to the high bar set by Compass." -Parent of two New Trier students

Company Description
Compass Education Group provides the highest quality one-on-one test prep and academic tutoring. We serve thousands of students annually, anywhere in the world online, or in-home in the Los Angeles, New York City, San Francisco, and Chicago metro areas. Our stellar reputation with the school and counselor communities is the result of 25 years of ethical conduct and helping students succeed. Every company claims to have the best tutors. Compass is a company of tutors unlike any other. We have spent three decades creating the ideal environment for the best tutors to do their best work. Our competitive selection process resembles the admission competition at the highly selective colleges from which our tutors hold degrees. Before they join our team, each tutor candidate must prove mastery of his or her subject. Significant tutoring and teaching experience is a minimum requirement but Compass tutors still must complete a lengthy, comprehensive training program before they meet with their first students. And no one invests more in the ongoing professional development of tutors than Compass; we regularly host tutor conferences where tutors share ideas and best practices. The depth and talent of our team, combined with our care and expertise in making the perfect match for each student, form the bedrock of our program.

Company reviews
"Great place to work, ability to craft own schedule"
Current EmployeeTutor
Compass allows you to be very flexible with your schedule as a tutor. If you can handle managing your own schedule/students then you will be fine. They have a great team of managers who are always willing to help you out.

"Accommodating workplace with flexible hours"
Former EmployeeTutor
Managers care about providing the best experience for their students and tutors. Any concerns are addressed quickly, expectations are reasonable and communicated clearly. They expect that their tutors are as committed to quality of service as they are, so responses and lesson notes must be submitted within a 48 hour window. They take care of finding clients that match your teaching style but the tutor is in charge of scheduling. Compensation for longer commutes provided.

"Great for youngsters"
Former EmployeeTutor
Not a full-time job, no benefits, etc. But nice time spent with eager students. Felt great to encourage and lead them to higher test scores. Compass stayed out of the way for the most part, which was the right thing to do. Great hourly rate but not a ton of work on the table.

"Great per-hour pay, flexible hours"
Current EmployeeInstructor
Compass is a great test prep company to work for. They have great hourly rates for tutors and flexible hours. I would recommend for people that have a car.
