As a Customer Service Advocate you will:

  • Represent Gerber Life through providing exceptional service to existing customers and engaging in consultative conversations using the Gerber Life Insurance Sales process. Processes transactions and ensures customers’ needs are met via inbound calls and outbound calls.
  • Respond to customer inquiries via inbound and outbound service and sales telephone interactions to address a variety of customer inquiries which include, but are not limited to, processing payments, resolving billing issues, policy changes requests and completing new insurance applications.
  • Review customer’s current insurance needs while engaging in consultative conversations. Expected to make recommendations that address the customer’s needs, while also promoting business growth and goal achievement with competitive, industry-leading life insurance and other financial products.
  • Handle customer inquiries in a positive and professional manner consistent with compliance and regulatory requirements.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements and Education Level:

  • High School diploma
  • Associates Degree or higher preferred
  • Active Life and Health Insurance required:
  • Must obtain appointments in 39 Company designated states within approximately the first five to seven weeks of employment.
  • Must obtain licensing in remaining states which Gerber Life Insurance Company conducts business within approximately 45 to 60 days of employment.
  • 1-2 years Customer Service experience
  • Sales experience required
  • Contact center experience and knowledge considered a plus
  • Life Insurance industry experience and knowledge considered a strong advantage.

Additional Requirements for Work-At-Home Associates Only:

  • Must have a work-space large enough for a monitor, docking station, mouse and keyboard.
  • Must have a quiet isolated work-space free of distractions.
  • Must have high speed internet connection that once tested will meet the data and speed requirements of Gerber Life Insurance (Satellite internet providers are not eligible).
  • Must maintain a dedicated hard wired phone line.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $35,000.00 - $43,000.00 per year

"Decent place to grind out a paycheck. Key word grind."

Gerber started off as a good place to work. However, after western and southern bought the company, things changed. The benefits are now really bad, and will constantly fight you tooth and nail for every Medical expense. The bonus system doesn't work anymore really, and agents are paid below the industry standard. Combine that with unrealistic numbers and the fact that there are no more warm transfer calls of people actually wanting insurance, it's mostly just existing customers so sales agents are also expected to be customer service agents, and it becomes an incredibly stressful and grindy environment where it doesn't feel like you're getting anything done.

As title of this says the numbers they want to you accomplish and maintain is unrealistic. If your not meeting sales you will be written up and placed on two different every intense coachings. One thing it will do is back you in a corner. The work life is stressful in itself. It’s a high turnover rate. Only good thing is you be licensed in all 50 states to transact insurance. But please if you’re reading this find a better company it’s not worth the stress.

Really nice people, faced paced, plenty of autonomy and accountability. Interesting business model with good opportunities. The hardest part of the job is maintaining patience as resources are in high demand.
