Freelance Part-Time Writer
Job description

En Fuego (www.enfuegonow.com) is a Latinx-driven platform that is dedicated to telling stories that matter. We are here to amplify multicultural communities with content that is immersive and compelling.

We seek a freelance writer who is not only well versed in the realm of sports but also in myriad forms of pop culture.

Being bi-lingual is a plus but not necessarily a requirement. What is necessary is that you come with a voice and the ability to eloquently provide clean copy on the biggest stories of the day.

We are looking for a motivated writer who is as passionate about sports as what’s in their Spotify playlists.

We need a writer to tackle several blog articles daily. Rather than aggregate from news sources, we seek someone who is eager to put their own fresh spin and opinion on the subjects driving the news cycle.

This is a position that will be crucial to shaping the voice and success as En Fuego continues to grow. Come packing a wealth of ideas and the desire to see those ideas flourish.

This is a contract position paid on a per article basis with the potential for a monthly bonus for number of articles hit.

Responsibilities Include But Are Not Limited To

· Produce daily articles that engage En Fuego readers, which include news of the day, nuanced opinion pieces on topical subjects, and humorous takes on sports, Latinx issues and pop culture at large.

· React to breaking news in a timely fashion.

· Understand and employ SEO and best practices.

· Tackle a consistent and reliable number of posts per week.

· Write with clean copy and a strict adherence to editorial best practices.

· Ability to cover stories from a unique and engaging perspective.

· Discover and suggest stories for possible En Fuego coverage.

· Collaborate with editorial staff to meet the demands of an evolving content calendar.

· Potential for contributions to En Fuego Media podcasts and video streaming shows.

Required Skills, Knowledge And Qualifications

· At least two years working for a digital or print publication and/or a number of clips that illustrate the breadth of your work and tone of your writing.

· Extensive knowledge of the sports world, including but not limited to expertise in soccer fronts, which includes Liga MX, as well as boxing. We want someone who is as eager and capable of writing about the latest Concacaf fixture as the NBA playoffs.

· Ability to formulate ideas on the fly and create content that will not only inform but engage and entertain.

· Knowledge of both Chicago and AP styles.

· Strict attention to detail in regard to tone, content and grammar.

· A record of acting independently and with good editorial judgment.

· A proficiency in social media as well as working in content management systems.

Company reviews
"It was great for labor position"
Former EmployeeCarpenter/Laborer
But after I started doing everything else my boss was doing and doing it well for more than 3 week and my pay did not increase I felt robbed I asked my boss for a raise and he never did it

"N/a"
Former EmployeeForklift Operator
It was ok but honestly with the hourly wage I was making and how far they had me drive out of town to where the job was, wasn't enough if you ask me esp with wear and tear that all those miles on a daily put on your vehicle the price of gas isn't cheap either.

"Basic"
Former EmployeeForklift Operator
Not enough work, other then that its a good company. Before I left the company I was framing KB homes out in saddlebrooke its a far ride and for what I was making wasn't cuting it for gas.

"Poor management"
Former EmployeeBartender
Not a good place to work. That is why they shut down not more than a year after they opened. I got treated fairly, but was not paid accordingly. Don't recommend working there.
