Job description
Ankura is a team of excellence founded on innovation and growth.
Practice and Role Overview:
Valuation Professional
Ankura’s Valuation and Transaction Disputes (VTD) is a practice within our Disputes & Economics group. We are a leader in supporting companies and their counsel navigate challenging and high stakes legal and regulatory matters, as well as complex tax, transaction, and financial reporting issues. Ankura’s VTD professionals are some of the world’s best and brightest subject matter experts with a strong track record and top-tier leadership position in the industry. Our testifying experts have delivered expert witness testimony on some of the most complex valuation, accounting, solvency, and damages matters in U.S. Tax Court, U.S. Bankruptcy Court, and U.S. District Court, as well as in state courts, arbitrations, mediations, and international settings.
Our team is built with highly experienced senior professionals who possess multi-disciplinary and diverse backgrounds and perspectives. We are driven to innovate, to stay ahead of the curve, and see opportunities where industries, technologies, and trends overlap. We provide empirically based analyses, backed up with evidence and data, and we place enormous value on collaborative lateral thinking to tackle problems and provide clarity and expertise to our clients.
We value companies, business interests, intangible assets, and illiquid and complex financial assets. We also perform forensic accounting analyses, work with debtors and creditors in restructuring transactions, perform solvency reports in contentious matters, prepare economic damages assessments, and provide testimony to government regulators.
Role and Responsibilities:
Ankura’s VTD practice is a diverse, tight-knit team of finance and accounting professionals. The individual will have the opportunity to work collaboratively with our senior consulting professionals (and directly with our testifying experts on a regular basis) on engagements across a broad range of industries and subject matters.
Associate or Senior Associate level will be determined through the interview process.
Responsibilities include:
Analyze historical financial information and cash flow projections
Aggregate, synthesize, and evaluate large data sets in Microsoft Excel and other analytical tools
Develop comprehensive, detailed valuation and other financial models
Conduct independent research into industry, market, and other factors relevant to the analysis, as well as research into technical valuation and accounting literature
Provide detailed review and analysis of large volumes of document production
Prepare clear, concise, and compelling written reports, memos, and presentations
We seek smart, driven people to join our team who have
Bachelor’s degree from a top-tier 4-year public or private college or university
1-4 years of experience
Strong aptitude for financial modeling and financial analysis
Dedication to taking personal ownership of work product and consistently meeting internal and external client deadlines and high-performance expectations
Strong intellectual curiosity and problem-solving skills with the ability to synthesize complex unstructured information rapidly and develop compelling insights and analysis for expert reports prepared for litigation, arbitrations, restructurings, fraudulent transfer matters, tax controversies, transaction disputes, and other high stakes matters
Proficiency in Microsoft product suite (particularly Microsoft Word and Excel)
Willingness to travel pending health and safety concerns (up to 10% - 20%)
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future

Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) or other advanced degree in accounting, finance, or economics and/or a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) or Accredited Senior Appraiser (ASA) / Accredited Member (AM) designation, or progressed towards, is strongly preferred

I am really happy I am here. Our CEO is on a mission to constantly improve the culture and our leaders really care. It isn't perfect, but we are working towards perfection all the time. It is a place where I learn something new every day. This is not a place for folks who want to coast. It is for those who want to be challenged and grow.
Pros:

Management cares about the well being of all employees. It is easy to make your voice heard as this is a mid sized consulting firm. Sometimes flexible schedule, sometimes not.
