ASSOCIATE Singing Voice Instructor (contemporary voice)

An excellent position for moderately-experienced singing voice instructors to build up experience at a respected institution while earning a paycheck. Primary instruction will be focused on NOVICE and INTERMEDIATE-LEVEL students.

Repertoire: Contemporary (Pop/Rock/Country/R&B) | Musical Theatre | Jazz Standards (Big Band Era) | Classical/Art Song/Sacred

Pay Rate: $45 p/hour

The instructor will receive ongoing advanced teacher training from the Creative Director and Voice Dept Chair... Position eligible for promotion to SENIOR FACULTY after completion of requisite training and teaching hours (usually 1-2 years). This position includes pay raises and additional perks.

Interested applicants, please read the minimum prerequisites CAREFULLY below. If you do not fit the following requirements, please do not apply:

  • Bachelors of Music (M.M. preferred) in your respective instrument from an accredited and field-respected conservatory or university program
  • A masterful level of proficiency in your primary instrument and genre, and the ability to demonstrate this proficiency
  • An .mp3 recording or web link that demonstrates your vocal abilities
  • BASIC PROFICIENCY in PIANO ( SIGHT-READING and TECHNIQUE - you will be accompanying/warming up your students)
  • Teaching experience in either a major conservatory or university program or in your own private studio program for more than five years
  • Significant knowledge of repertoire in your primary genre
  • Significant professional stage experience (resume required). This may include: Commercial stage venues, Broadway and/or Tier I Opera Houses
  • Most Important: A positive and perpetually-optimistic attitude with minimum ego and maximum confidence (a badass onstage but an absolute saint offstage)
  • Willingness to learn new concepts and train adaptive pedagogy with the Creative Director and Vocal Dept Chair
  • Basic knowledge of
  • Willingness to go the extra mile off the clock (e.g. prep a track, copy a song, record an accompaniment, answer a question via email)
  • Flexible hours with potential availability on weekends and weekday evenings


  • A professional-level computer (32RAM, i7 or similar CPU, etc.)
  • A decent microphone (Shure SM7B or similar)
  • An excellent audio interface
  • A HIGH-SPEED internet connection (100Mbps minimum, and we will speed test you!)
  • A separate webcam (built-in laptop cameras are unacceptable)
  • A digital piano or keyboard with MIDI computer interface
  • A quiet, professional space to teach in without interruption or too much peripheral noise

NOTE: Once hired, PCC will provide a 50% credit toward all equipment purchases used for teaching purposes


The following qualifications will also be favorably taken into consideration based on high student demand:

  • Male instructors with excellent reinforced falsetto and extended vocal techniques who can appropriately demonstrate a healthy application of these
  • Bilingual instructors (especially those fluent in: Japanese, Chinese, Spanish, Russian, and/or Korean)
  • Instructors with Audio Production experience


  • Inexperienced and/or hobbyist instructors
  • Jazz Vocalists
  • Anyone that still believes you sing/support from the pulmonary diaphragm
  • Entitlement

Upon hiring, all private studio instructors will be presented with a probationary roster consisting of a few students. This roster will be expanded based on studio demand. Contract bonuses are available for student retention and studio promotion. Hired teachers MAY continue to teach their own rosters, but may NOT work for a competitive institution.
