Freelance Real Estate Investing Writer/Analyst
The Motley Fool4.3
Job description

The Motley Fool is looking for a highly skilled freelance writer with subject matter expertise in all aspects of real estate investing. This contract will be flexible and 100% remote, but candidates must reside in the United States for consideration.

About us: We are The Motley Fool, a purpose-driven financial information and services firm with nearly 30 years of experience focused on making the world smarter, happier, and richer. But what does that even mean?! It means we’re helping Fools (always with a capital “F”) demystify the world of finance, beat the stock market, and achieve personal wealth and happiness through our products and services.

Since our founding, we’ve cut through the noise and jargon to help people understand the financial world in general and their own finances in particular.

Today, we do it at a fairly large scale (50 million pageviews/month). And we’d like your help as we continue to grow!

The Motley Fool is firmly committed to diversity, inclusion, and equity. We are a motley group of overachievers that have built a culture of trust founded on Foolishness, fun, and a commitment to making the world smarter, happier and richer. However you identify or whatever winding road has led you to us, please don't hesitate to apply if the description leaves you thinking, "Hey! I could do that!"

About this position: With support from our editors, you’ll have the opportunity to write about the most exciting facets of the real estate investing industry, such as REITs, rental property investing, the housing market and more.

This is a contract position in which we pay $140 per published article. We want writers who can publish at least 20 articles per month. Our most successful writers publish many more than this.

Three things to note:

1) A medium-to-high-volume writer can easily make six figures per year.

2) Our writers tend to stay with us for years and years – many have been here a decade or two.

3) In a turbulent industry, our track record of financial stability stands out.

About you: You share our driving passion for teaching the world about investing, you’re a skilled writer and analyst, and you are awesome (but you already knew that)!

Company reviews
"Great culture and benefits and interesting work - if you're into investing, Wall Street, financial planning, etc."
Current EmployeeCustomer Service Representative
I've worked a handful of similar jobs at other financial services companies and this is by far my favorite place to work- with the best IT support, software tools, management and analysts. I hope I never have to leave. Their motto is "making the world smarter, happier and richer" and I feel I am all those things by working at TMF and I think the products help our clients become "smarter, happier and richer" too. I haven't worked there that long but long enough to have an informed opinion.

"Productive, fun, educational place to work."
Current EmployeeCopy Editor
I handle numerous articles written by investment experts. The workplace culture is friendly and supportive. The toughest part of the job is maintaining the high editing standards. The most enjoyable part is the appreciation expressed by the writers when I improve their copy.

"This place is all frills and no real substance"
Former Employee
They really hype this place up to be so great when in actuality there is nothing but a lot of people that work there that attribute no real contribution. Speaking from a person that could benefit from the "good ole boys club" there is definitely one in place here that makes it hard to retain talented people because things are so superficial based. This makes it hard on the people that want to get real work done and believe in hiring the right person for the job, not looking for physical commonalities only. This place is a sinking ship based on their lack of being able to find and keep people who actually will work and not kiss behind all day. Also, the interview process is pretty ridiculous I was told internally they purposely put people through the ringer to steal their ideas even though they never have any intention on hiring them. How slimy! This place is fishing for new ways to make more revenue too so I wouldn't be surprised if they started to downsize. Unless you want to be a one man band RUN!!!!
