Rise Up is at an exciting time of growth and expansion—we’re implementing a new strategic plan that will maximize the organization’s impact to more effectively support Rise Up Leaders to create large-scale change for gender equity globally, and we recently received our largest gift ever from Mackenzie Scott. As a member of Rise Up’s diverse team, you will have the opportunity to learn about the organization’s impactful model and support its fundraising efforts.

Position Summary

Rise Up’s Development Intern program provides critical professional support, hands-on experience, and individual mentorship. Rise Up’s development team is looking for an intern to support the organization’s fundraising efforts with donor research, database management (Salesforce + MailChimp), donor gift acknowledgements, and donor events coordination.

This intern position will provide professional development opportunities in the following areas:

  • Good introduction to and experience in Individual Giving at a nonprofit organization
  • Experience working with Salesforce database for fundraising and MailChimp for email marketing
  • Opportunity to advance writing and communication skills
  • Experience working in a nonprofit and multi-cultural setting and as a member of a growing team

This is a time-limited, part-time, and fully remote position that is expected to work 60% FTE (3 days a week) for 4 to 6 months starting in June 2022.

Pay: $18.32 to $19.98 per hour. The typical hiring range for this position is $18.32 to $19.98 per hour (with an approximate annualized salary of $38,100 to $41,552 based on 100% FTE). The starting wage is determined based on the candidate’s knowledge, skills and experience.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Conduct strategic prospect research on individual donors and family foundations aligned with Rise Up’s mission using wealth engine database and online search platforms.
  • Develop prospect pipeline in Salesforce made up of current donors and new donor prospects.
  • Support with ongoing Salesforce and Mailchimp maintenance, ensuring accurate contact management, donor segmentation, and stewardship planning across platforms.
  • Develop new donor acknowledgement letters and lead timely gift acknowledgement process.
  • Support coordination of donor events, including Rise Up’s Annual Gala.
  • Complete special projects and provide organizational support as assigned by members of the development team.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in or recently completed the 4th year of a bachelor’s degree program

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong commitment to Rise Up’s mission with an interest in development/fundraising.
  • Detail-oriented, hard‐working, with a high level of organization skills.
  • Good writing and proofreading skills.
  • Basic understanding of relational database design and functionality.

The Tracing Health side of PHI was a mess. A few manages on a power trip, difficult individuals I had to supervise, no set workflow that could be followed without daily, weekly, monthly changes. As a supervisor my mental health started suffering. When my position termed I was so happy. I was there for two years. I left and haven’t looked back. I miss no one and I haven’t given the job a second thought. They did pay well and had fantastic benefits. To be clear, Tracking Health was a part of PHI. It was a termed position (temporary position). I hear working on the actual PHI side of the company is much better.
