As the AVP, Data Solutions Architecture, you'll spearhead the solutions in the enterprise data ecosystems such as data lake, data warehouse, ingestion, catalog, lineage, data quality and streaming. You'll spearhead the efforts of passionate and dedicated teams of architects, interface with engineering and product leaders aligning cross-functional and cross-line of business projects, ensuring that they're fiscally and technically within reason. You'll collaborate with internal teams and business leaders alike, creating strategically sound Target State Architectures that can handle today's needs and be ready for tomorrow's needs as well. You'll Prepares and participates in "deep dive" technical evaluation meetings, investigating processes to understand data and communications flow within Argo's Ecosystem and will promote consistency and collaboration with all functional departments, focusing on optimizing all business processes supported by information technology.

This role will have extensive interaction with leadership. This position requires a wide range of domain knowledge within the P&C Insurance industry, technical development, design, and multitasking skills.

What's Required for the Position

  • 20+ years professional work experience delivering data and analytics solutions
  • At Minimum 10+ year of experience in P&C Insurance
  • 10+ years of experience in designing large scale data.
  • 10+ years of experience in building data platforms.
  • 10+ year of experience in managing technical teams across various discipline.
  • 5+ years of experience in cloud data technologies like AWS, GCP, Azure
  • Your solutions are backed by in-depth analysis of data, industry case studies, academic research, and/or best practices for utilizing 3rd-party tools.
  • You are comfortable and effective in talking about technical matters with business people and business matters with technical people.
  • Seasoned expertise in application, data, and infrastructure architecture disciplines
  • You have a strong ability to elicit requirements from both business and technical stakeholders.
  • You have a track record for influencing decisions with stakeholders
  • Mastery of architecture, design, and business processes
  • Complete understanding of industry-wide technology strategies and best practices
  • Expertise in leading collaborative teams to achieve common goals
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills are must.
  • Experience with building commercial dashboard is a plus.

If you have these preferred skills, that is even better:

  • Experience with AWS/Azure cloud technologies and architectures.
  • Experience with Snowflake cloud data warehouse
  • Experience with Realtime integration and DB Log replication architectures like Qlik (Attunity) replicate
  • Experience with Cloud native ETL tools like - Talend, Informatica

The published salary range applies to applicants that reside in the state of Colorado. The salary range for this role is $113,600 - $135,100.

I started as a temp and worked there 6 months before a permanent position was offered to me. I still had to go through 5 - yes five!!! - interviews. Why? That should have been a clue that wasting people's time is a high priority for them. As a temp, my workload was reasonable. Within 3 months of being hired on my workload doubled. 2 people couldn't have done my job effectively. All I ever heard was "we're working on getting more help". Well, maybe if you didn't put people through the ringer during the interview process, you could find help! They also had worthless training and "projects" which took up valuable time I could have used to attack my unreasonable work load. Before I left, one of the supervisors came to me and asked if there was some way to keep me. I said "Yes! Give me a reasonable work load!". The supervisor just shrugged his/her shoulders and walked away. Clearly more lip service than actual action. I left the position without having a new job to go to. Not working was a better option than working at Colony. I know a couple of other people who worked with Colony. They tell similar stories.
