Company Description
ImmunityBio, Inc. (formerly NantKwest, Inc.) is developing cell and immunotherapy products that are designed to help strengthen each patient’s natural immune system, potentially enabling it to outsmart the disease and eliminate cancerous or infected cells. The activation of the innate immune system is key to the development of immunological memory. Over the last two decades, our founder and Executive Chairman Dr. Patrick Soon-Shiong has investigated mechanisms to activate the immune system to attack tumors that can otherwise evade and escape the body’s defense mechanisms. After inventing the world’s first protein nanoparticle drug, Abraxane, Dr. Soon-Shiong turned his focus to the next generation of immunotherapies. ImmunityBio was founded in 2014 to create innovative immunotherapies that address serious unmet needs in oncology and infectious diseases. "At ImmunityBio, we envision a day when we no longer fear cancer but are able to conquer it, thanks to the biological wonder that is the human immune system. Our scientists are working to develop remarkable new therapies that harness that inherent power by amplifying both branches of the immune system, attacking cancerous or infected cells today while building immunological memory for tomorrow. The goal: to reprogram the patient’s immune system and treat the host rather than just the disease." -Dr. Patrick Soon-Shiong, Executive Chairman

Company reviews
"An Absolute Mess"
Former EmployeeManufacturing Associate
I don’t think I was ever so drained and miserable in my entire life as I was when I was working for ImmunityBio (also formerly known as NantKwest). There is no such thing as work-life balance at this company. Despite being an hourly worker, you will VERY frequently be expected to work long hours and stay overtime, and if you ever can’t stay late, you are made to feel bad about it, as if you should feel guilty for having a life and things to do outside of work. As if toiling away during the regular work week isn’t bad enough, you will also frequently have to work weekends. If you’re in manufacturing, you will, for whatever reason, be expected to do the jobs of other departments as well. The company itself is a mess. Things are constantly changing and they hide behind the slogan “embrace change” to mask the fact that they have no real idea what they’re doing. They start new projects/operations without having enough personnel/resources to support these operations, resulting in them stretching their employees thin. They constantly rush deadlines and put a lot of pressure on their employees to get things done quickly, and then they wonder why nothing ever goes smoothly. I know for a fact that I wasn’t the only employee to feel this way, I have a feeling there will be a mass exodus coming to this company.
